Prevailing Word is an exciting, growing, multicultural church where the Word of God is our foundation, prayer is our passion and serving humanity is our calling. We are an outreach ministry church that ministers to the spirit, soul, and physical needs of God’s greatest creation; man, and we are unashamedly committed to taking the gospel of Jesus Christ to every man, woman, boy and girl that God places in our pathway. Young, Sr. Our Mission: The mission of Prevailing Word World Outreach Center is to become a Spirit-led, Spirit-empowered body of mature believers who are not only hearers of God’s Word, but doers, also. We are solely committed to God and His Will in our lives, our families and fulfilling the great commission—To preach the gospel to every person and to reap the harvest of souls in these last days. We are an outreach ministry, therefore; we are prepared to feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty, shelter the homeless, and visit the sick and the prisoners. Because the Word of God prevails in every and any circumstance, we WILL fulfill our mission. Our History: On January 4, 1998 we started PREVAILING WORD WORLD OUTREACH CENTER from a dream and vision God placed upon my heart in 1989. That dream consisted of establishing a ministry that reaches out to people of all ages, races, colors and backgrounds, a place where the Spirit of God inhabits the people to the degree that they bring deliverance and hope to the world in which they live. The dream was further augmented when I sensed the Lord say in my Spirit that there was no outreach ministry in my city (New Castle, PA) and he wanted to use me to establish one. Our ministry began to formulate in December of 1997 when my wife and I and a handful of people, with a heart after God and a vision for our city, state, nation and world assembled together in my home to orchestrate and organize this Christ – Centered endeavor. In those meetings I cast forth the word and the vision God had given me about the critical need of outreach in our city. It wasn’t just important to start an outreach ministry as it was to maintain one. During this time also our three-year old daughter was stricken with a deadly disease, we knew that this was nothing but an all-out attack from the enemy of our souls that I told the group was coming a week or so before. We however had no idea it was going to be so severe. However my wife Diane and I put this situation in the Lord’s hands. As we trusted in the Lord we agreed to Diane’s focus on our daughter and I kept my focus on establishing the ministry. We needed a place to worship, set dates and times etc. We knew that the devil wanted us to lose faith and give up. We continued, our daughter was delivered out of sickness and the ministry was birthed. What we were called to then is the same calling that we have now and it is still continually emphasized. We believe that anyone whom God sends to Prevailing Word is called to mature in their walk with God, hunger after His presence and be a blessing to others. Today Prevailing Word is a multi-cultural, multi-faceted ministry made up of people from many different ethnic groups and backgrounds who minister to hundreds of people each week in our church services and through our outreach programs. Our Sunday and midweek services prepare us spiritually so we can continue each week to reach out to people in our community. It is our honor to provide ministry in the housing projects and feed them each week free of charge. We now go into three different nursing homes and a juvenile facility for delinquent boys. Our 12-step Christ-Centered Spiritual Journey Group, ministers to those with addictive behaviors and those who desire healing through group study and the word of God. Our Jewels/Kingdom Princesses program reaches again into our neighborhood to model Christ-like behavior to young woman and girls, teaching them that God created them with dignity and purpose. We also within our body have ministry for children and youth, mime and dance teams, a tape ministry and many others ministries to further enhance each persons walk with God. In late 2003 God impressed upon my heart to start a school of ministry to help facilitate and train men and woman that have a call of God on their lives. The school would also be open to anyone who desires to gain greater knowledge of the God we serve. On March 13, 2004 was the inaugural session of the MANNA FROM HEAVEN SCHOOL OF MINISTRY. The name came to me after I asked the Lord what the name should be. He said I’m going to feed you (from heaven) so you can feed the multitude. Our class was limited to 30 individuals and even though I thought about 15 would sign up, 30 individuals signed up and some I had to turn away. The school is broken up into three semesters lasting about 18 months to two years. We only meet twice a month. However the results have been tremendous. With the passion and commitment from these individuals the Holy Spirit is transferring his anointing upon them so that the calling on Prevailing Word will continually be fulfilled. Since 1998 we have been having our services and conducting our ministry in the Sankey Youth Center a multi-functional building in our city, however in the year 2005 we purchased a ministry campus with a church, parsonage and three story school building paid for in full, to God be all the glory!! In closing I want to thank Almighty God for placing Diane and I in a ministry where the love of God is evident, lives are being changed, souls are being saved, families are being restored and the great commission is being carried out.
